WEEKEND VACAY: UTOPIA OF THE SEAS

By Simone Henry

In the two days on the weekend, there’s nothing more glamorous, exciting and adventurous than the Utopia of the Seas, Royal Caribbean International’s newest ship and the world’s largest weekend cruise vacation! Sky-high entertainment, picture-perfect ports of call, and affordability make this cruise a brand new weekend away for everyone. Here is a detailed story of the cruise vacation I will never forget on board the Utopia of the Seas, plus practical advice to make your accessible cruise vacation happen.

Pre-Cruise Planning: Picking the Right Holiday Experience

Planning the perfect weekend getaway starts with key questions: Where do you want to go? What type of vacation do you want to take? For me, it was between one trip on land and another kind of a trip, the cruise. Since there has been a lot of hype around what is happening at Utopia of the Seas, I took the bull by the horns and ventured into Royal Caribbean’s new experience family. Besides the beautiful design and amenities this ship provides one with the upmost in convenience even if they use a wheelchair.

As a travel professional, I always advise my clients to think about accessibility as an option. The Utopia of the Seas did not offer me much stress when it came to planning for my power chair and my regular folding manual chair. Since it was going to be to Nassau, Bahamas, and Royal Caribbean’s private island Perfect Day at CocoCay , I expected some level of fun and relaxation.

How Utopia of the Seas is the Greatest Cruise Ship Weekend Getaways

Utopia of the Seas has a lot to offer for everyone, there are 23 bars and 21 dining outlets, eight different hot tubs, five swimming pools, three different waterslides, and two gambling halls. Such an incredible lineup gives every guest an opportunity to enjoy the type of program that will attract him or her; from the Pesky Parrot Tiki Bar to the open-deck. Despite being a real ship close to one mile long, it can feel intimidating but all spaces and zones are designed for an accessible visit. Because of the narrow hallways and busy passages of the ship, I secured a mobility scooter from the Special Needs Group which was assisted by a friendly Bobby who briefly showed me how to use it before I could manoeuvre the ship efficiently.

Accessibility with Special Needs Group: Easy, Seamless, and Essential

I now know who to recommend Special Needs Group to and that is anyone who is planning to travel with mobility devices in particular for their Special Needs at Sea. They provide vital support for each person in need of e-mobility, oxygen, and all various other unique rental assistance. The freedom of having my scooter ready to go at the terminal helped me embark with no complications at all, and I could also take a look at the ship on my own without having to hide behind the accessibility cons.

Entertainment Highlights: Shows You Can’t Miss!

Cruises on Utopia of the Seas are incredible and entertaining. Here are a few top recommendations based on my experience:

“All In” at the Royal Theater:  It is, therefore, quite a high-tech original production with good and appealingVideos and Shows.

Comedy Club at The Attic: Best as an after hours chuckles, this is the destination for the best live comedy acts for mature audiences only.

Aqua80Too in the AquaTheater: The best part of my trip to this country was watching this underwater performance or rather an aquatic show accompanied by 80s music_fetching. Wondering at skilled stunt choreography and seeing performers dive into water creating unbelievable stunts this show can be called unforgettable.

Every show was an amazing treat that gave many people laughter, some thrilling moments, and others stunning performances. Don’t miss these performances if ever you are to be aboard the Utopia of the Seas for your cruise.

Dining Delights: A Spate of Interesting Delivery

People are attracted because the facility prides itself in an extraordinary number of eating places to select from. Across 21 restaurants available, each having their own taste profiles, customers can always get what they want, be it American, Mexican, Italian, Chinese, Thai and more. Although I didn’t overdo it as much as I normally would, just the fact that there were so many options made it all the more enjoyable. Whether one always wants quick snacks and drinks by the pool or the kind of formal dining see in other wonderful locations on Utopia, then the dining on Utopia is for you.

Fun-Filled Stops: NASSAU, BAHAMAS & PERFECT DAY AT COCOCAY

In addition to the onboard amenities, the Utopia of the Seas offers two spectacular stops:

Nassau, Bahamas: It has become famous for crystal and turquoise water and beautiful, white sand beaches; there are lots of opportunities for side trips, such as snorkelling, shopping in open-air markets, and experiencing Bahamian culture.

Perfect Day at CocoCay: Royal Caribbean cruise encounter involves a beach with quiet nature and sandy touches to great water slides among others. Looking for a Beach? Great Abacos is one of the best places you would ever want to visit if you want to experience everything the Caribbean can give you.

All these destinations are suitable to promote easy access to the shore by guaranteeing all guests can get on and off the vehicle as needed.
